Dear Jesse,
I enjoyed your article"The Spoon that Stirs the Pot".I also attend a church that has House Meetings.People from all walks of life come together in the unity of the Spirit(Eph.4)all having been wonderously connected through the receiving the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence and manifestation of speaking in tongues(Acts.2:38&39)(Isa.28:11&12).Can't wait to ride them white horses with Jesus(Rev.19:11).much obliged Daniel.P.S.would love an article on the musicians who may not be mainstream country and western such as Arlo Guthrie,Bob Dylan,Tom Russell just to name a few and if they have ever kept horses.

We attended the NDAC at Buckingham Village, Virginia. You might not expect much at an East coast event, but you'd be amazed what a neat deal this was! Went to this in 2006 up in Pennsylvania, but this had 3 or 4 times more things to see. A few highlights were: following the genuine train ride (complete with robbery and jail break)a shuttle bus ferried us to the historic village site. There were tepees, Indian dancers, an all day appearance by Larry Storch, the very personable star of television series F Troop, a true Pony Express carrying real US mail that you have postmarked on-site, a chuckwagon with food available, stage coach and buckboard rides, lots of horse activities, gold panning display, old time 1880s saddle display with interesting lecture, great music and a really fabulous skit involving the Lone Ranger & Tonto rescuing an ambushed cattle trail drive crew. Look a-likes from Lash LaRue to Sam Elliot abounded! I was impressed at the effort put into this event.

Here in Okeechobee Florida, we have just completed celebrating our third annual American cowboy day.
It began at 10am with a cattle drive right through the main road in town, running until everyone either on horse back, or in a stage coach reached the grounds of the Agri-center.It is approx. 1 1/2 hour ride. Many spectators were present this year as this event grows larger and larger. A free ranch rodeo was offered to the community to watch, sponsored by the Okeechobee Cattlemen's Association.

God bless our western heritage and our cowboys,in particular. We're celebrating by having the Wild West Cowboy Roundup in Garland, TX on Saturday September 19th. Chuckwagons, stagecoach, performances inside the Plaza Theater, and outside on the square, plus lots of activities for the little buckaroos. This is our first annual, but we're already planning a two day event for next year. Janting to get the word out...

It's a great thing to recognize how the people where i live are the way that they are because they still are true to their Cowboy roots

As Chris LeDoux sang about cowboys in a song, "their a knight in leather armor." Truer words were never spoken or sang. Cowboys rode for the brand and as such, they pledged their loyalty to the ranch. Our country could sure use more of that brand of leadership and loyalty. God bless Chris LeDoux and God bless our cowboys...their what made America down right great.

Hi...we've got a NDAC event planned again this year, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Actually set for Saturday July 18 from 7am til noon, outdoors at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, 1200 Houston Street. This year's event will feature Western Swing music by Gayle Hague and Lone Star Express, chuckwagon "cowboy style" breakfast and a western shoot-out re-enactment by the Texas Pistoleros, and will be linked to the Texas Agri-life Extension Service "Stock Horse of Texas" show and competition on-site that same weekend.

the cowboy is so american i can't believe nobody thought of this before. needless to say there should be organized trail rides, penning, roping, etc geared to the nubie. i for one am an english rider, but love all that western stuff, including the clothes but don't have the introduction available to western sports. and of course i'd love to go out & find me a cowboy

I think it is a great thing to look to the American Cowboy for character today, with all the strange things our pop culture keeps promoting as the standard fo this generation.
The American Cowboy represents all that is good and all the things that have made America and Americans great.
The Cowboy is an individual and simply too strong an image to pass with the ages.
American Cowboy, I salute you!

We celebrated here in Arcadia, FL last year with a parade through downtown and then a nice free BBQ and music for all who participated in the parade. Last I heard they were going to try to make it an annual event for the local cowboys since the local rodeo often does not have many of the working cowboys included. It is about time that some of the hardest working and dedicated individuals gets honored. I am proud to be marrying a cowboy!
