Rod's Western Palace
Columbus, OH
Rod’s Western Palace celebrated National Day of the American Cowboy with a Cowboy Day Sale-a-bration. The all-day event was kicked off with a horse parade that started and ended at its retail store in Columbus, Ohio. There were free cowboy hats and paintable Breyer ponies for the first 100 kids. There were also pony rides that all of the kids loved.
A wide range of groups set up booths to pass out information. Among them were the 4-H Club, Ariat Boots, Autumn Rose Farm, Cashman's, Cowboy Mounted Shooters, Deb Little Photography, Dingo/Dan Post Boots, Justin Boots, Laredo Boots, Might Oaks Little Peanuts, Mounted Police, Ohio Quarter Horse News, Professional's Choice, Roper Boots, Saddle Making, Smoke Rise Ranch, Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of Ohio, Tony Lama Boots, Weaver Leather, Wild Bill's Outlaw Rodeo.
Many events took place throughout the day, including a farrier/horseshoeing demo, a leather tooling demo, a Smoke Rise Ranch roping demo, and a riding seminar by trainer Terry Meyers. Several of Rod’s employees held horse interaction demos teaching attendees how to bathe a horse, prepare for a horse show, fit a horse for a saddle, find the right bit, clean horse tack, and braid a horse's mane.
Live entertainment was on stage throughout the day. Old-time cowboy music was provided by the Smilin' Valley Riders. When they took a break, we had a cowboy story teller up on stage to keep the audience laughing and amused.
Lunch was provided by Rod's, and was prepared and served by Whole Hog BBQ.
