Pinal County, AZ
Pinal County, Arizona, hosted what was surely on of the largest National Day of the American Cowboy celebrations in the country. The N.E. Pinal Economic Partnership, the cities of Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Superior, and Florence coordinated NDAC activities showcasing the western history and character of each individual community. The combined attendance for the weekend was 12,000 people.
The photos were taken at the 1890's Cowtown Festival at Goldfield Ghost Town, just outside Apache Junction. The weekend festival featured a Drover's Parade, the Earp-Holiday Mustache Contest, Luke Short Poker Tournament, Fast Draw events, gun fights, re-enactments, a Patent Medicine Show plus two stages of entertainment with musical or other entertainment offered every half hour.
